Overview for Rita Maurais
● Rita Maurais just
finished one of the most impressive seasons of any recent Hopedale
athlete. Specializing in the
mid-distance events, she was a team
captain and a top performer for the team.
●
At the Auerbach
Freshmen/Sophomore Invitational she won the 1000m, setting a meet record
and earning “Runner of the Meet”
recognition.
●
At the DVC Championships she won
both the 1 mile and 1000m setting league records in both, and was
voted the DVC Girls Runner of the year.
●
At the District
Championships she won the 600m.
●
At the Division
5 Championship Maurais won the
1000m by over 7 seconds, and then finished 6th at the All State meet to be Hopedale’s first ever female
qualifier for the New England Indoor Track & Field Championships.
● Rita finished in 10th place at the New England meet.
● She broke records in
the 600m, 1000m, 1 mile (all her own), and the 2 mile. Rita also holds the school record in the
400m.
